The water from the recent flooding erroded away large chunks of rock and dirt exposing a rich tapestry of roots

While exciting and engaging to paint, this type of water is perhaps the most challenging subject matter to capture pleinair. You have the water movement, the reflection of the trees clouds and sky, that changes as the day goes on. You have beatiful rocks just under the surface, in addtion to a light wind creating small ripples on the water surface creating intricate shadows on the formentioned rocks.

The lighting on the mountains here is glorious, iridescent and translucent feeling, the scope and scale of these mountains is almost lost on a day to day.
