Painted along Fire Creek near Lost Lake, Fire Creek No.3 is a close study of ferns extending over the water and merging with their reflections below. The repeated shapes of the fronds move between the physical vegetation and the reflected forest, making the boundary between the two increasingly difficult to distinguish. Color, light, and broken reflections transform this small section of creek into a layered and almost abstract composition.
