Fire Creek No.2

10×20 inches Acrylic and Spray Paint on Canvas

Here we are at number two. Maybe you’re reading these in order—I don’t know, probably not. Painting number two needed to be smaller. These 10 × 20-inch paintings take around four hours, which I love. With my work schedule, it took only two days to complete, compared with more than a week for the previous piece.

I traveled up Fire Creek toward the falls. If you follow the path across the road from the parking lot at Lost Lake, you’re treated to a meandering creek with multiple waterfalls and calmer sections. When selecting locations for these pieces, I usually prefer to be away from other people and, unlike at the previous location, somewhere I can stand comfortably.

The piece came together easily and almost automatically, which may be attributed to the struggle I experienced with the previous one.
